Local Natives & Ratatat
So I figure I should put something up about the concerts I went to (I mean, afterall this is meant to be a music blog of some sorts and not just a platform for me to complain).
I saw the Local Natives on the 23rd of November at HMV Forum in Camden. HMV Forum reminded me of the O2 Academy in Brixton, was quite a cool venue. The opening band were meh (a bit screechy and not very interesting) but had a slideshow of random oldschool family photos going (that clearly weren’t theirs) whilst they played (was a bit strange haha). Local Natives only started playing at like half 9 (doors opened at 7, lucky we only showed up at 8 something). I hate how gigs here start so retardedly late. They were really good live, sounded just like their recordings. The crowd weren’t that into it though (what can you expect when it’s fairly chill music) which was a shame. They played nearly everything from their album and then came back on for an encore of Sun Hands and a few others. Overall a good show, just a shame that the audience weren’t very lively and I guess that the band were a bit too chill.
Saw Ratatat last Tuesday (the 7th) at Heaven with my housemate Will and his friends. Their opening act was actually really cool. Some Northern guy that played the guitar, drums and keyboard and a violinist. Want to post some of their stuff but haven’t managed to find them online yet. Ratatat were awesome, a bit drugged up but generally pretty cool and very entertaining. Big fan of their random huge drums. They played all their big songs (Lex, Loud Pipes, Seventeen Years, Mirando etc.) avec their trippy music videos projected behind them. The video for Mirando still creeps me out a bit. I love gigs like this ‘cause Heaven is a pretty intimate venue and Ratatat are a group that you’ll either love or not care for at all so everyone there was really into it and you could feel it; you could feel the crowd react when they heard ‘I’ve been rapping for about 17 years..’. Was awesome. Hit up Madame Jojo’s with Edouard and his friends after which was cool too.
Anyway, I have a fluid mechanics and heat transfer exam. Singapour in six jours!! mothafuckaaa.

P.S - the song is Deli by Delorean, favourite song of the last week or so. Heard it at Madame Jojo’s.
Local Natives are playing here for £12.50 on the 15th of June! 4 days after I finish exams :) Now to find someone to go with.
P.S - yes Caryn, this is another reason for you to move to London

I found a new British band called the Local Natives, and I’m hooked!
It has a Grizzly Bear vocal feel to it and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. The only bad thing is that I can’t seem to find any information about their newly released (only in the UK) album Gorrilla Manor or any information about their songs… meaning right now I’m relying on youtube rips for my Local Natives addiction. =[
Airplanes
Stranger Things
But not only is their music great as well, I LOVE the artist (whoever he/she is.. I need to find out!) who did the cover designs of their CD… I’m inspired to make more photomontages.
